Luton's youngsters returned to winning ways with an impressive away day victory over QPR.

Ryan Charles kept up his impressive start to the season with a goal in only five minutes after good link-up play with Ashley Harrison-Barker that saw him beat the Rangers goalkeeper from 12 yards.

And after QPR forced an equaliser, Luton got their rewards when Harrison-Barker and Charles reversed roles. This time, Harrison-Barker headed home a Charles cross for his second goal of the season.

This came despite George Beavan, Joe Selby and Harry Hogarth all being substituted after picking up knocks.

However, after suffering a heavy defeat against Plymouth last week, Hatters boss Chris Cummins was delighted by the response of his players.

"We played very well," said Cummins. "We showed a good attitude, a good desire and excellent enthusiasm. It was a well-fought game against a very good QPR side.

"To be fair to QPR, they pressed us and scored a decent goal after about 20 minutes. But having been forced to make several changes to the side, I was pleased with how well the lads coped.

"We went in level at half-time, which was fair, but in the second half we looked the more likely side to score and we got the rewards through Ashley Harrison-Baker's header."

Cummins admitted that consistency has been a problem in his side's performances this season, but after a lengthy chat with his players, he hopes that his team can now start a winning run.

"We had a sit down and had a heart-to-heart with all of the lads last week. We have discussed certain things and all we have asked them is to roll their sleeves up, get on with it and get their heads together. I couldn't fault any of them for doing that on Saturday and they got their rewards.

"Last week we brought a few things into question, but I couldn't fault them this week. We need to be more consistent, so the question is: Can we take this through to next week?"
